Project Overview

STEP THREE were commissioned to work alongside ROI Projects and Edenbridge based architects Pentar Designs to rebuild this 18th century cottage based in Langton Green, near Tunbridge Wells.

The cottage suffered a catastrophic fire to it's roof in 2015, which sadly completely destroyed the 500 year old oak frame roof structure. We were commissioned to return this beautiful cottage back to it's original design and also provide services for a full design and build on a large extension that was in keeping with the properties 18th century roots.

A project such as this always has it's difficulties, as does every project that involves a listed building. The project team, architects and craftsmen involved with this project have engineered the structure back to what it would have been hundreds of years ago, as well as well as complimenting the original house with the beautiful new extension.

One major obstacle with this project was that there were no original drawings of the building or the roof to work from for the rebuild. Another was that the client was based abroad for the duration of the build so it was imperative for her to appoint a contractor that she could trust.

We loved every part of this build and we are very proud of what we have delivered as a team to enable this historic building of Kent to stand for hopefully another 500 years.

Find out how we approached the roof rebuild, watch the property showreel and find out first-hand from the client on why she chose us over other contractors by watching the videos.
